Stockroom Procedures

     Sales from inventory:

Faculty, staff, and students may purchase lab and office supplies from the stockroom located in 102 Biology Unit I between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m.  The stockroom is closed between 11:30a.m. and 1:00p.m. for mail run and lunch.  Biology department members must supply a budget or class number.  Other FSU departments may purchase by using an interdepartmental requisition. Sales are not made to the public.  Cash sales are not made.

A catalog of items is available on-line at http://bio.fsu.edu/~stockr.  Orders can be placed in person, on-line, or by email to stockroom@bio.fsu.edu, or telephone.  If you can’t locate or match the item you want contact the stockroom to discuss special orders.

Purchases are usually picked up at the stockroom.  Orders for Conradi can be delivered with the 11:30a.m. mail.

     Compressed Gas:

Stockroom staff will order gas cylinders for biology department members.  The users must supply the gas specifications, regulators and connect/maintain the tanks.  Care should be taken not to remove or write on the labels placed on the tanks by the stockroom.

    Package Receiving:

The stockroom receives packages for biology department members, then contacts the receipient for pickup.  Persons receiving packages are responsible for verifying contents and resolving problems with vendors.  When ordering perishable items, the user must plan ahead for someone to be available to receive and store the items appropriately.

     Vehicles:

Biology department members may request use of departmental vehicles from the stockroom.  Reservation requests are made by sending email stockroom@bio.fsu.edu. For availability, check the reservation calendar at http://bio.fsu.edu/~stockr

Stockroom staff maintains and fuels all vehicles.  Users are responsible for completing the usage log sheets (kept in each vehicle), reporting problems to staff, and returning keys promptly.  Vehicles need to be returned in the condition they were received. If a vehicle can't be parked in its designated space it may be parked in another state vehicle space, a service vehicle space, or a red faculty/staff space. Notify stockroom staff, or, if after-hours, leave a note on the board near the key return box.

    Media Equipment:

Biology department members may check out slide projectors, overhead projectors, and a TV/VCR from the stockroom. Unit I classroom media equipment (computers, slide projectors, etc.) is kept locked in cabinets in rooms 208 and 307. Keys may be checked out from the stockroom.  Additional AV equipment is available from Audio Visual Services at http://tecs.fsu.edu/distribution/ .

Problems: Report problems to departmental electronic or computing staff.  They will coordinate the repair.

    Hazardous Waste:

Biohazard waste containers and red plastic sharps boxes are available at no charge from the stockroom.  Users are responsible for following appropriate disposal procedures as described on the EH&S web site: http://www.safety.fsu.edu/.  Only the red plastic sharps boxes will be accepted for disposal at the stockroom window.  Other waste must be picked up by EH&S.
