Note: Evenings of Wednesday September 4 and Thursday September 5, 5-7pm each day in Psychology Bldg. room A211. Dr. Alan Lemmon (Dept. Scientific Computing), Dr. Emily Lemmon, Dr. Sophie McCoy and Dr. Blake Jones and Dr. Emily duVal(Dept. Biological Science), offer a workshop for senior undergraduates, first and second year graduate students in the sciences and engineering, on how to apply for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, a prestigious award that provides three years of stipend (at least $34,000 per year), and a $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to successful applicants. Workshop includes panel discussion with recent graduate student awardees, examples of successful and unsuccessful proposals and reviews, details of applying, strategies for writing a strong proposal, tips for making your proposal stand out, and many other topics.
