The Maize-10-Maze

Title: A public research educational outreach event
Date: Saturday, 24 June 2023
Time:9:00 AM
Location: Mission Road Research Facility, 2606 Mission Road, Tallahassee, FL
Series Title: The Maize-10-Maze
Category: Miscellaneous
Note: The event is funded by the NSF Plant Genome Research Program (IOS Award 2025811) and is co-sponsored and co-hosted by FAMU and the FAMU summer FACE program, also co-hosted by the graduate student association TCGA in biology and Dr. Karen McGinnis lab, and co-organized by Hank Bass lab assistant Bianca Sheridan. The primary objective of this event is to promote public interest in plant genetics and genome research, with a special focus on maize (corn) mutants. Visitors typically spend about an hour exploring the genome and marveling at the mutants. This year, we have also included an Okras of the World display, further adding to the diversity of plant genetics on showcase. Questions? contact Dr. Hank Bass at bass@bio.fsu.edu or Bianca Sheridan at bsheridan@fsu.edu.
