Note: | Preregister by September 6 at https://forms.gle/fVLPra7nQtpki3UAA). Dr. Alan Lemmon (Dept. Scientific Computing), Dr. Emily Lemmon and Dr. Emily duVal (Dept. Biological Science), offer a workshop for senior undergraduates, 1st and 2nd year graduate students in the sciences and engineering, on how to apply for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, a prestigious award that provides three years of stipend (at least $37,000 per year) and a $16,000 cost-of-education allowance to successful applicants. Applicants must hold U.S. citizenship, national, or permanent resident status by the application deadline in October 2023.
Workshop led by faculty who are previous awardees includes panel discussion with recent graduate student awardees, examples of successful and unsuccessful proposals and reviews, details of applying, strategies for writing a strong proposal, tips for making your proposal stand out, and many other topics.
