Florida State University offers a unique opportunity for K-12 teachers to participate in a six-week, residential Research Experience for Teachers called the Science Inquiry for Teachers Program. The program, funded by the National Science Foundation, is designed and administered by the Office of Science Teaching Activities in the College of Arts & Sciences at FSU.

This is an ideal opportunity for teachers who want to develop their knowledge of science inquiry as well as how to better teach science through inquiry. This is accomplished through hands on scientific research of each individual teacher’s own devising. The program employs scientists and master teachers to help guide participants through their scientific research and concurrent reflection on what it means for the practice of teaching. The project is designed to help teachers develop and use inquiry effectively in the classroom.

  • Each participant receives a $3600 stipend.
  • Housing can be provided to non-local participants.
  • Travel for non-local participants can be reimbursed up to $500.
  • Inservice Credit Points and/or College credit can be awarded for participation.
  • Program dates for Summer 2008: June 23 – August 1, 2008.
