Note: you must have Win95, Win98 or WinNT for this to work.

Instructions:

  1.  Click on the link below  to download the installer file.  When asked where to download to, click the down arrow and select the Desktop item. This will be at the top of the list and you will probably have to scroll up to it.
  2.  Once the file is downloaded  find the icon Populus_3.4.exe on your desktop and double click it.  Click the Unzip button.  The file will create a c:\populus directory and unzip into it.  Click the OK button on the "7 files extracted succesfully" dialog box.  Click the Close button on the Winzip window.
  3.  Create shortcut for populus.exe.  Right click (click with RIGHT mouse button) on your desktop  and choose New->Shortcut from the context menu.  Either type in "c:\populus\populus.exe" or browse for same.  Click the Next button.  If it exists, remove the ".exe" from "populus.exe" in the "Select a name for the shortcut" dialog.  Click the Next button.
  4.  Select an icon from the box of icons that appears.  We use the lightbulb but any of them will do.  Click Finish.
  5.  Find the newly created shortcut on your desktop and with the RIGHT mouse button click it once and select Properties from the context menu.  Choose the Screen tab and change the Usage setting from "Window" to "Full-screen".  Click the OK button.
  6.  Now just double click the populus shortcut to run populus.
