We interrupt this blog . . .

News flash!

This is ridiculous. It's snowing! Saturday, we were hiking all over the citadel of Villefranche in shirtsleeves, and yesterday, light jackets were fine. Today started out cloudy and raw, and it's been raining slowly but steadily all day, but just now I looked up in time to see the rain change before my eyes to big wet snowflakes, then back to rain, and now again to a mixture of the two.

I had heard that it might snow today "down to 200 m"--that is, on the inland mountains and very high spots along the coast, but here in the office I'm using, I'm just one flight of stairs above sea level, and I've been reliably assured that it doesn't snow in Villefranche any oftener than it does in Tallahassee!

Now it's snowing heavily again. I'm going over to David's office to get the camera . . . .
