Monday, 9 September 2024, Tallahassee to Paris

Written 10 September 2024

As usual, since our faithful friend Carolyn Hooper has been taking us, getting to the airport went smoothly and on time. For once, our flight to Atlanta wasn't until 5:43 pm! David likes that schedule because it means our trans-Atlantic flight takes off at just about our usual bedtime, making it easier for him to fall asleep (he declines dinner and gets right to it). Since we don't get to Paris until 12:30 pm, the chances are greater that our hotel has our rooms ready when we get there.

ribeye But that 5:43 departure complicates meal times. Rather than eating at the Tallahassee airport at 4 pm, we waited until we got to Atlanta. The steaks we got at Longhorn on Concourse C were very good, but they were slow to come, meaning it was almost time for boarding of the flight to Paris by the time we finished them. (At Longhorn, we were bemused when a young man came in, sent away the menu, ordered just a glass of Bud Light, and chatted on the phone for 45 minutes. Why go to a steakhouse if all you want is a Bud Light?!) As a result, I had no appetite for the lovely braised-short-rib dinner Delta served me less than two hours later.

seat adjustments Here's the array of adjustments to my airline seat. We liked the layout of the Delta One seats on this Airbus plane better than the ones on Boeing planes, but the one on last year's Air France plane is still my favorite.
