Thursday, September 5, 7:30 pm, 1024 KIN—FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY MEETING, "Searching for the Southern Frontier: Landscapes Inspired by Bartram’s Travels," Philip Juras. Social hour begins at 7:00 p.m., meeting at 7:30 p.m., presentation at 7:45 p.m. In the Travels, William Bartram paints an eloquent picture of the wilderness landscape of eighteenth century northern Florida and much of the rest of the South. Inspired by Bartram, landscape painter Philip Juras combines direct field observation with historical, scientific, and natural history research to depict the southern frontier as Bartram would have seen.
