Wednesday, January 28, 3:30 pm, 499 DSL—DEPARTMENT OF SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING SEMINAR, "The skills that make them want you: how to prepare for a job in industry," Myron "Mike" Sussman, Department of Mathematics, University of Pittsburgh, PA. The speaker spent thirty years at Bettis Laboratories, a "government owned, company operated" engineering laboratory. This talk, aimed at graduate students who are interested in proceeding from academia to industry, will address some differences between industry and academia and steps to become more attractive in a non-academic job interview.
