Host: Dr. Daniel Vera, Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine, Florida State University. Single molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing, commonly called 'Pac-Bio sequencing', is characterized by long (>10,000bp),unbiased reads with high consensus accuracy, allowing for contiguous and comprehensive views of genomes, epigenomes and transcriptomes. This introduction will demonstrate improved de novo genome assemblies, characterization of structural genetic diversity, resolution of previously unsequenceable genome regions, characterization of full length mRNA transcripts and splicing isoforms in human and complex transcriptomes.
