Connecting to your Biology U drive on Campus

These instructions assume the following:

  1. You are Biology staff or faculty.
  2. You have already been added to gamma.
  3. You are located on FSU's main campus.
  4. You are using Windows Vista.

1. To simplify this process, first change your start menu to the classic style. To do this, first right click on the task bar below and select Properties.

2. Select Classic Start menu and click OK.

3. You should now have a My Computer icon on your desktop. Right click it, and select Map Network Drive.

4. Now that you are in the Map Network Drive window, select drive letter U and specify the folder path \\gamma.bio.fsu.edu\your username (your username being your unique Biology username). If you are using a computer that is always on campus, you can leave a check in Reconnect at logon. However, if you are using a laptop that is often off campus, you may want to leave the check out. Windows XP will attempt to map the drive and if it can not, it will cause a delay at startup. Click Finish to accept these entries and mount your U drive.

5. If you are prompted for your account information, enter in BIO\your username and your password. Click OK.

6. If you entered in your information correctly, your U drive should pop up within a few moments.
