King Life Science Building Facility
The King Life Sciences building has four rooftop greenhouses (330 sq.ft. of bench space each). They are pad-and-fan cooled, heated, and computer controlled. All four greenhouses are connected by a single large head house. One greenhouse is designated for teaching, the rest are available for research.
The greenhouses are located on the roof of the south wing of the King building.
A weather station at the outside corner of one greenhouse helps maintain environmental control in each greenhouse.
One greenhouse is set up for growing maize with high intensity lights.
All greenhouses have an automatic shade system as part of their environmental control.
The head house interconnects all four greenhouses, and provides supply storage as well as interior work space.
