1954 in the FSU Biological Science History project

Faculty of the Department of Biological Science in 1954

The Department of Biological Science was not actually formed until 1956, with the merger of the departments of Bacteriology, Botany, Physiology, and Zoology, so their memberships are listed separately here. The four departments, together with the Oceanographic Institute, cooperatively offered a joint major in biology at both the undergraduate and the master's degree levels for those with interdisciplinary interests or planning to teach biology in the secondary schools.
