1970 in the FSU Biological Science History project

1970 In the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University (updated 12 Sep 02)

In April of 1970, Dr. William F. Herrnkind was chosen to participate in the Tektite II underseas underwater program. He and five other aquanaut-scientists remained submerged in teams of two for 20-day periods throughout that spring, summer, and fall.

In summer of 1970, the Florida Board of Regents approved inauguration of the FSU-FAMU cooperative premedical program that became the Program in Medical Science (PIMS) and then, in 2002, the FSU College of Medicine.
