1977 in the FSU Biological Science History project
1977 saw the establishment at the University of Florida of the Paul R. Elliott Award (in honor of then FSU Biological Science Professor Paul R. Elliott), given annually to the outstanding UF graduating medical student entering a primary care specialty.
Also in 1977, Dr. Ralph W. Yerger was appointed Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, a post in which he served until 1983, serving at one point as acting dean during the dean's extended illness.
