- Assistant Professor Gregory M. Erickson's research on the growth rate of dinosaurs appeared in State (article on line), Florida State Times, and The Tallahassee Democrat. His work on the bite strength of Tyranosaurus rex appeared in Research in Review (article on line).
- Professor E. Imre Friedmann's work on evidence for the biological origin of traces in the Martian meteorite ALH84001 appeared in State a bulletin for the faculty and staff of FSU (article on line), and Florida State Times, a newspaper for FSU alumni, friends, faculty, and staff, (article on line).
- Assistant Professor Thomas A. Houpt's research with psychology professor Jim C. Smith on the effects of strong magnetic fields on mice was featured in Research in Review (article on line) and Florida State Times.
- The same issue of Research in Review included a profile of Distinguished Research Professor Frances C. James.
- Professor David L. Swofford's arrival at FSU as one of the first Eppes Professors was featured in Florida State Times (article on line).

- Professor Walter R. Tschinkel's amazing plaster casts of the interiors of ant nests were covered in Florida State Times (article on line).
- The annual report of the FSU Office of Research included a short feature on the research program of Donald L. D. Caspar and even shorter pieces on Thomas A. Houpt, Myra M. Hurt, W. Ross Ellington, Joseph Travis, William F. Herrnkind, and David L. Balkwill.
