- Biological Science Courtesy Scholar/Scientist and former employee A. K. S. K. Prasad was featured on the 21 January 2005 FSU Headlines radio program under the title "Professor finds stunning beauty in microscopic algae, known as diatoms." Dr. Prasad's photographic "diatomscapes" have been placed on display in Dirac Science Library, where they may become a permanent exhibit.
- Fire-ant research by Professor Walter R. Tschinkel was featured on the front page of the 7 February 2005 issue of State, under the title "Tschinkel: Is a bigger ant a better ant?"
