HARRY F. DUNLAP, 1922-2005

Harry F. Dunlap HAVANA - Harry F. Dunlap, 83, a retired laboratory manager, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday at Abbey-Riposta Funeral Home (850-562-1518). Other services and burial at Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Collierstown, Va., are being planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1545 Raymond Diehl Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. After his discharge, he worked as a senior lab attendant in the Department of Botany. In 1956, Florida State University formed the Biological Science Department, where he worked as the manager of laboratories until his retirement in 1985. After retiring, he worked for Dr. Debusk in Global Biology Technology and other companies. He had many hobbies and collections, including National Geographic magazines, sea shells and butterflies. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also played a number of sports well into his 60s. He helped form and was scout master of Troop 112 East Hill Baptist Church, where he was also an active member for more than 45 years. He and his wife, Marian, shared a good life for 61 years. The Great Spirit of his Indian grandmother will welcome him to the happy hunting ground. He is survived by his wife, Marian Dunlap; a son, Don Dunlap (and wife Debbie) of Jacksonville; a daughter, Judy Marlow (and husband Richard) of Havana; a daughter-in-law, Pam Dunlap of Gainesville; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Dunlap.
