Basidium (pl. Basidia)- a club-like structure of basidiomycetes on which spores (usually 4) are produced.
Diploid (2n)- cells in which two sets of chromosomes are contained in the nucleus.
Haploid (n)- cells in which one set of chromosomes is contained in the nucleus.
Hypha (pl. hyphae)- the thread-like filament produced by a fungus.
Meiosis- cell division in which one diploid cell divides to form four genetically dissimilar cells.
Mycelium (pl. mycelia)- a mass of fungal hyphae.
Spore- a reproductive cell or group of cells that can grow into a larger body without being fertilized.
Zygosporangium (pl. zygosporangia)- a thick-walled structure of zygomycetes in which spores are produced.

Zygote- a cell that is formed by the merger of two gametes.
