Objectives
Students will learn:
- The principal forms and purposes of scientific communication and the
similarities and differences among them.
- The steps in scientific publishing.
- How to write clear, concise, and correct scientific prose for
publication, oral or poster presentation, and funding proposals.
- How to improve existing scientific prose.
- How to organize scientific data into clear and effective tables and
figures.
- How to avoid or correct the errors commonly made by scientific
writers.
- How to prepare a manuscript for publication.
- Correct ways to handle and mark galley and page proofs.
- How to construct a professional curriculum vitae.
- How to make effective use of library resources in scientific
research.
