The Aquarium of the Bay
Leopard sharks (Triakis semifasciata) in the juvenile tank.
I got to pet these later in the
touch tanks.
Not too surprisingly, most
everyone who visited this tank referred to the clown fish as Nemo (adults and
kids alike).
Pipefish (Syngnathus
sp) hiding in eelgrass (Zostera marina)
Two moray eels (Strophidon sathete) hiding near one of our own Pete BoumaÕs
spiny lobster (Panulirus sp.) just not sure if this is a west coast species.
Do you ever wish that you could
hide in your office this effectively?
Part of the Aquarium is composed
of a tunnel through a VERY large tank.
This was a very relaxing yet stimulating environment. There were many fish including sharks
of about 6 species, and sturgeon.
It was here that my cameraÕs batteries gave out,
my apologies.
The Maritime Museum
Here is an old lantern from the
Point Bonita lighthouse.
Originally lit with oil lamps!
The Balclutha (aka the
Star of Alaska) was one of the ships on display there.
The Balclutha served many duties,
which took this vessel around the world.
It was amazing to set foot on such a worldly vessel
The new and the old come together
in this image of the city of San Francisco off the bow of the Balclutha.
