This course serves two purposes in acknowleding important aspects to the scientific world with regards to ethical standpoints. YSP participants will reflect upon some principal concerns of research ethics including mentoring, animal and human rights, authorship and peer review, and conflict of interests. The students also will embark upon researching broader ethical issues prevalent in today's society by advances in computing, biotechnology, and by the effects of human development on the environment. Class discussions, student presentations, and evaluations of several case studies will strive to broaden the minds of the scholars.
